Jean-Louis Mathias

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Jean-Louis Mathias joined EDF GDF Services in 1973 and held various positions, notably Branch Manager in Aix-en-Provence and Business Unit Director in Paris.

Jean-Louis Mathias joined EDF GDF Services in 1973 and held various positions, notably Branch Manager in Aix-en-Provence and Business Unit Director in Paris.

In 1992, he joined the Personnel and Labour Relations Department of which he was appointed director in 1996.

In 1998, he became Sales Manager of Gaz de France, before being appointed Head of Trading in 2000, responsible for procurement, wholesale and trading. In 2002 Jean-Louis Mathias became deputy CEO, mainly in charge of supervising the sales teams and the service activities of the Gaz de France Group, as well as labour issues.

Between 2004 and 2012, he was a member of the EDF Executive Committee. Jean-Louis Mathias is Chairman of EDF Energies Nouvelles since 2012.

He is a graduate of the École Polytechnique, the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Économique, and holds an Executive MBA at the Centre de Perfectionnement aux Affaires (HEC Paris Business School).

After initially working as an engineer for the French Ministry of Transport, he joined EDF’s Studies and Research department in 1982.

In 1985, he joined Crédit Commercial de France’s (CCF) swaps department, taking over as its head from 1988 till 1991.

After three years at Vinci where he was special advisor to the CEO, he returned to CCF in 1994. He held several leadership positions at CCF and, from 2000, at HSBC’s investment bank, including many years as co-head of the Energy and Utility sector for the HSBC Group and for nearly 3 year as head of investment banking for the MENA region, based in Dubai.

In 2008 he was appointed advisor to the CEO of HSBC France and in 2011 he became head of HSBC Private Bank in France. He was also a member of HSBC France’s executive committee for several years.

In 2012, he was appointed CEO of EDF Energies Nouvelles. Since 2015 he is also EDF Group Senior Executive Vice President, Renewable Energies and a member of the EDF Executive Committee. He also serves on the boards of EDF Luminus and EDF Trading.

He is a graduate from Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole de la Météorologie Nationale.

Bruno Fyot started his career at EDF in 1988 as Field Manager within the distribution network business.

In 1994 he joined EDF GDF Services as an advisor for IT strategy to the executive committee.

In 1997 he became head of a local distribution and supply business unit in the Lorraine region.

In 2000 he joined EDF Energy in the UK where he was responsible for the integration of SWEB and London Electricity Group supply businesses, following their acquisition by EDF. He then became Director for Call Centre Operations and finally Managing Director for B2B in 2002.

On his return to the EDF Group in 2005 he was appointed Program Director, responsible for preparing the Customers business to deregulated B2C markets.

Between 2008 and 2011 he was Director for B2B supply at EDF, leading 8 regional sales and customer services business units.

In 2011, he was appointed CEO of Électricité de Strasbourg Group, a listed subsidiary of EDF, and EDF Group regional representative in Alsace.

Since 2015 he serves as Chief Operating Officer of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

Bruno graduated from Telecom Bretagne, and holds an MBA from the Theseus Institute (EDHEC Business School)

He started his career at JP Morgan in London as M&A analyst in 2000.

He joined EDF in 2003 as M&A manager. In 2007, he joined EDF Energies Nouvelles as Project Director of PV Business Development and Structured Assets Sales. He became in 2010, CEO of EDF EN in French Overseas and VP in charge of Business Development in Africa and South America.

In 2015, he was appointed Executive VP of EDF EN in charge of Onshore France and member of the Executive Committee.

Since 2016, he is Executive VP for International operations (except North America) and oversees EDF EN’s activities in key areas: South America, Europe (except France), Africa, Middle East and Asia.

He holds a master degree in Banking and Finance at Paris Dauphine University. Otherwise, he participated to the JP Morgan Analyst Training Program in New York City.

Béatrice Buffon

Béatrice Buffon started her career as Head of project financing in COGETHERM, an EDF subsidiary dedicated to gas cogeneration.

Béatrice Buffon started her career as Head of project financing in COGETHERM, an EDF subsidiary dedicated to gas cogeneration.

In 2001, she joined SIIF Energies which became EDF Energies Nouvelles as Head of Project financing. In 2003, she was appointed Project Director and worked on various wind projects, notably offshore wind projects in France, Belgium and United Kingdom.

From 2007 to 2009, she held the post of Deputy Director at POWEO Renewable Energies.

She returned to EDF EN in 2010 as head of development for large photovoltaic projects, then the next year, Head of Development for offshore wind sector. In April 2012, her team won projects totalling almost 1,500MW in the French offshore wind market that are now under final phase of development. Floating wind and tidal energy projects are also developed by her team.

Since 2014, she is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of EDF EN France, responsible for marine renewable energies, and member of the Executive Committee.

She is a graduate of École Polytechnique and École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.

Nicolas Couderc

Nicolas Couderc joined the EDF Group in 2008, at the Corporate Strategy division; he then became Head of Portfolio Structuring for Europe within the Optimization and Trading division in 2010.

Nicolas Couderc joined the EDF Group in 2008, at the Corporate Strategy division; he then became Head of Portfolio Structuring for Europe within the Optimization and Trading division in 2010.

In 2014, he first became advisor to the CEO of EDF Energies Nouvelles, then Head of Strategy and M&A.

In 2016, Nicolas Couderc is appointed as Executive VP, France and Distributed Energy. He is responsible for all EDF EN onshore activities in France (wind power plants, large and small scale PV plants) and is a member of EDF Energies Nouvelles Executive Committee.

Nicolas Couderc is also a Board member of the Syndicat des Energies Renouvelables, the leading renewable energy professional association in France and of WindEurope.

Prior to EDF, Nicolas Couderc spent several years in the finance sector as a university teacher and researcher, then as a market economist. He has been an associate professor since 2008 of Finance at ESCP Europe and he keeps on teaching regularly.

Former student at École Normale Supérieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud, Nicolas Couderc graduated from Sciences Po Paris and holds a Doctorate in Economics from Pantheon-Sorbonne University in Paris.

Bénédicte Gendry started her career in 1984 at Eternit Group as Business Lawyer, in particular specialized in industrial or trade contracts and M&A operations.

In 1993, she joined Elf Antar France as lawyer in charge of petroleum agreements in refining and supply sector.

In 1997, she became Head of Legal Department at the Framatome’s industrial facilities division.

She joined the EDF Group in 2000 as Head of the Legal Department for Europe. She managed, in the legal function, operations for EDF growth in Europe (EnBW, Edison…). In 2005, she became Legal Director for International, this function allowing her to drive all legal teams working on international or gas sector operations.

In 2013, she joined EDF EN as General Secretary and General Counsel. She supervises, in addition to the management of legal affairs, IT, Sustainable development and environment, tertiary Purchases. She is also member of the Executive Committee.

She holds a post graduate diploma (DEA) in French Economic and Contract Laws and a diploma in English law from the London School of Economics.

His career began in 1990 as Regional Director at Invest in France Agency, a French ministry of Foreign Affairs subsidiary promoting foreign investments. In 1992, he joined the Sales and International Consultancy group at Advans international and later was promoted to partner. From 1997 to 2004, he was President and CEO of Mensi SA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDF. Mensi was sold to Trimble Navigation Ltd in 2003.

Tristan Grimbert leads EDF EN’s renewable energy operations in North America which includes EDF Renewable Energy, EDF Renewable Services, EDF EN Canada, EDF EN Mexico, and groSolar.

He is a board member of EDF Inc., the holding company encompassing all other EDF entities in North America. He also serves as Chairman on the Board of Directors for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and is a Board Member of DK Energy, a U.S. subsidiary of Dalkia and the EDF Group affiliate focused on distributed energy services.

He is a graduate of Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon (now AgroParisTech) and holds a management degree from INSEAD.

Thierry Muller started his career in 1990 at EDF Group in the Electricity transmission service as Very High Voltage Grids Analyst. In 1996, he joined the EDF’s production activities as Engineer in charge of Maintenance, then Chief of Maintenance in power plants: EDF de Pont sur Sambre and Gaz siderurgique de Dunkerque.

He joined EDF Enterprises in 2004 as Chief of Support Process Services and developed energetic efficiency solutions for industrial clients and local authorities.

In 2008, he joined EDF EN to create and develop Operations and Maintenance activities in Europe, renamed EDF EN Services. Since 2013, he is the President of this subsidiary, in addition to his functions of VP in charge Operations and Maintenance and member of the Executive Committee.

He is a graduate of INSA Lyon, specialized in electrical engineering.

Denis Rouhier started his career in 1990 at Cegelec where he acquired the experience of monitoring turnkey projects in engineers operational environment, through internal audit, then as Unit Financial Controller (Dispatching export).

Denis Rouhier started his career in 1990 at Cegelec where he acquired the experience of monitoring turnkey projects in engineers operational environment, through internal audit, then as Unit Financial Controller (Dispatching export).

In 1999, he joined EDEV, Financial Holding of EDF and enhanced his skills in the area of "corporate" including consolidation and IFRS (Clemessy, Tiru, ASA Austria), and in the equity financing transactions and investments.

At the end of 2005, he joined EDF Energies Nouvelles to prepare the company to IPO which happened in November 2006. He is in charge of the Controlling Department which he structures and animates to meet the requirements of a group listed on SBF 120 in a context of strong growth of international business.

Since October 2012, he has been Group Chief Financial Officer at EDF Energies Nouvelles. Besides the Controlling function, he is also in charge of Tax Department, Treasury and Structured Finance Department and more recently of M&A – DSSA Department.

Joining EDF Energies Nouvelles in September 2002, he became head of engineering in 2005.

Since 2013, he is VP in charge of Industry and member of the Executive Committee. Leading a 150 engineers’ team, he covers the complete value chain for new build assets: Engineering Procurement Construction and Innovation. His technical perimeter includes all technologies on which EDF EN is active (wind on-shore, wind off-shore, photovoltaic power plants, concentring solar power (CSP), storage…). He follows EDF EN activities everywhere in the world except where EDF RE takes the lead (North America, Mexico …).

He is a graduate of École des Mines de Douai engineering school with a specialization in Energy Engineering.
